Abstract

Revit is the Autodesk’s software intended for the AEC environment, which allows architects, designers and engineers to produce and document building projects, using a consistent and coordinated approach. In this paper the peculiarities, which make Revit a B.I.M. software will be presented, analyzing how building’s virtual models can be generated using “intelligent elements”, which interact with the design environment. The maturity reached by Revit in recent years has encouraged an increasing number of professional firms to abandon generalist CAD applications, much more similar to traditional digital drafting machines, in favor of an integrated framework which makes the information exchange between the disciplines involved in the building process easier, albeit some critical issues still have to be overcome.
