Abstract

In a context that sums up the syntagm of the survey, the place of Ortigia, an historical archive of building and summation of harmonious sensory effects, should be seen as an urban aggregation without boundaries, substantially not enclosed by the skyline and open to a rapport with the sea. The methodological approach of the study undertaken tackles the issue of managing information that is highly interrelated, referring to the entire monumental unicum, by means of recognition of the parts, at times also fragmentary. The research is articulated within a coherent frame of interactive readings, the outcome of responsible working choices of surveying and graphic rendering, always verifiable and adaptable to the specific qualities of the site. In this paper, the results related to a place of particular fascination and importance, namely the Cathedral square of Ortigia, are reported.
